Non League Show coming to BBC Radio Leeds

03rd September 2014

Gareth Jones' busy start to the new football season has continued, with the creation of a fourth new show.

On the back of creating split, dedicated match day programmes for Leeds United and Huddersfield Town; and a dedicated monthly Bradford City show on West Yorkshire Sport Daily; Gareth has now added a focused Non-League football programme to the BBC Radio Leeds schedule.

Aiming to be broadcasted on the second Wednesday of every month, West Yorkshire Sport Daily, 6-7pm, will dedicated an entire programme to West Yorkshire's excellent and vast non-league football scene.

Presented by BBC Radio Leeds' non-league expert Dave Fletcher, the programme features guests and features covering all levels of non-league; from the Conference down to the Northern Counties Leagues and everything in between.

The first show in September will feature FC Halifax Town boss Neil Aspin and Guiseley manager Mark Bower as studio guest.

"We are very lucky to have a great and successful non-league scene in West Yorkshire. However with decreasing staff and funding levels within all local media, and some very big Football League clubs in the region, it is difficult to give the non-league clubs the coverage they need and deserve,” said Gareth

"I think BBC Radio Leeds have always done a good job and done as much as we can to cover our non-league clubs. But we can always do more, and our new dedicated Non-League Show is an attempt to do this."
